How Jewelry Can Change Your Outfits for Any Occasion

Fashion is an industry that is in constant evolution. Save for perhaps the classic look, it can be very difficult to keep up with contemporary fashion. Obviously, A-list celebrities have it easy because they have personal stylists who dress them head to toe for anything from super-glamorous awards shows to a trip to the grocery store. It is our good fortune that most of us don't have careers that ride on our being able to always look modern and innovative all the time.

Though your career most likely doesn't depend on it, feeling confident about how you dress is important no matter how you look at it. The world often judges us by how we appear physically, and when we feel good about how we look, people will respond in kind. Besides, it's no secret that many women love to shop, try things on, and otherwise work on how to flatter their appearances. Of course, we should still exercise this enthusiasm with a certain level of control and levelheadedness rather than just buy anything we like. There are many tricks of the trade when it comes to making our investments last the test of time. While trends each season are constantly in transformation, we can learn to create new ways for the same clothes we already own to last us year after year via updating our accessories and not necessarily our clothes every three months.

All women should stock their wardrobes with a select few pieces that they can base a multitude of outfits around, staples like dark denim (in a flattering cut and length), a blazer, white shirts (a tee and a button-down), boots, and a pencil skirt. Generally speaking, trends often hit women's smart tops, and they can be great to experiment with. A great belt (or trio of them, if they're skinny) can really give you some shape to a large top, jacket, or set of layers, and a lot of costume and high fashion jewellery can lend your outfit a number of different vibes.

Before you begin to accessorize, keep in mind the intention of your getup. Always pick pieces that are cohesive to your clothing whether by picking an accent or complementary color or by choosing a style that goes well with it. (For instance, don't pair diamonds with plaid or pearls with gym wear.) The neckline of your top half should be paired well with a complementary necklace, or perhaps no necklace at all. You can even visually subtract 10 pounds from your figure by adding a long necklace! Of course it depends on the outfit and styles of jewellery, but by using different techniques like layering necklaces of varying lengths or framing pendants within longer necklaces, you can add more visual stimuli to your overall appearance. Experiment as well with unexpected adaptations, such as looping a scarf through a large statement ring and tying the scarf around your neck, or dangling a delicate ring with a chain around your neck. "Crochet" a strand of pearls to create a chunkier, shorter necklace, and connect the ends with a ribbon. Consider also accenting your monochromatic outfits with a pop of color using stack of bracelets, a fun shoe, a small clutch, or a scarf. A pin can sit on your lapel, on your winter coat, in your hair or on your shoe, or complement an otherwise plain purse. Feel free to experiment and see what you can create!

Fashion is always changing and is often about experimentation. Let yourself have fun with experimenting and see where the journey takes you. It is a fun endeavor to see just how much newness you can bring to the same clothes every season, knowing that you can update your wardrobe without spending a ton on new outfits.
